Commons-based peer production is everywhere. You can go online, type in any question you want on google and dozens of pages will appear that will give you multiple answers written by multiple people; some of those people will be educated enough to answer and some of them won’t be. That's the reality of the internet now a days. However the question is, are there certain products or services that can't be generated with common-based peer production methodologies? I think the answer is yes. I think that peer production should not be relied on for medical information. I think that there is far too much false information out there on medical information and often enough people will read that information before asking their doctor about it and the information you find on the internet is often scary so people then get to scared to go see a doctor. This is actually dangerous in some cases because people's conditions can worsen when it was actually something simple to begin with. As for services, I think that any service can be generated with commons-based peer production because it's up to the public to find out for themselves what is credible and what is not. People should be aware by now that things they find posted on the internet is not always going to be worth your while.
I’m sure almost everyone looked up on what commons-based peer production means on Wikipedia. Wikipedia like many websites is generated by commons-based peer production and would be considered a positive thing to have for our use. There are many services and productions that use this commons-based peer production method so that people can get together to collaborate their information and experiences. In many cases it is acceptable, I think that when it comes to medical information or services it should be left to individuals that are educated and credible but unfortunately that is not the reality of our society today.
